There's Not Much We Can't Fix with a Hammer and Duct Tape.
Sales
Yes, the 9 speed ship with standard shift cables, the 10 and 11 speed sets ship with slightly fancier coated cables.
No! We are a small production shop and doing one off sets would cut into our beer drinking and riding time.
Yes, all our shifters are sold as pairs.
CX2 for example comes with left and right units complete.
CX1 for example comes with complete right unit and left brake (no shifting) unit.
Send them back in 30 days with a bar of chocolate and we will refund them!
Sanity! It’s just too much work to keep all the units in all the colors. From time to time we will do a run of CX2 for example in a custom color if a team orders them and we might make a few extra sets available at that time. When this happens they will be shown as available on the store selector.
We like to think that if our shifters will work for cyclocross they will do bloody well at anything! People happily utilize our shifters for all sorts of cycling including, adventure, gravel, touring and commuting. We do however caution the use of them for road racing as other integrated shift levers like STI do offer the advantage of seamless shifting from the drops which is important for road racing. For cyclocross however the tables are turned and CX shifters provide shifting capability that even STI lack.
Shifter choice is determined primarily by the type of brakes your bike is utilizing. CX and AUDAX shifters work with short pull brakes, CXV shifters work with long pull and the GX work with short of long pull. Next is derailleur compatibility. CX and CXV work with Shimano road derailleurs, GX work with Shimano Dyna-sys mountain bike derailleurs. AUDAX are 100% friction shifters so they will work with just about anything.
You can but keep in mind that anodizing colors change from batch to batch and a new left CX2 unit might not match your existing one exactly. This is generally just a small difference but it is good to know before hand in case you are an anal type person who needs things to match EXACTLY! Just a heads up! Price for a left only unit is 50% of the cost of a pair and can be purchased by emailing us a request with info on what color combination you require.
Technical
Maybe. There are simply too many options for us to know if your particular ones will work. Check the comparability chart in the ‘Support – Comparability’ section to see if we know. If it is not listed you are welcome to try a set to see. We are happy to take the shifters back within 30 days for a refund if needed.
When a HOUP is used the cassette compatibility is unchanged (will still need a 10 speed shifter), you are simply swapping an 11T cog for a spacer to provide better derailleur/spoke clearance. Same is true for a HOUP used on an 11 speed cassette, it will still usa an 11 speed shifter.
Partly out of necessity as constrained by the design but also very importantly for 2 key reasons. Performance, exposed cables provide a smoother cable run and more durable shifting in the mud and maintenance is much easier with this set up which is very important for keeping your bike in top shape race to race.
All of our shifters are serviceable and as such it is quite easy to swap out a mounted shift lever for a different one.
All our shifters are currently Shimano compatible and SRAM derailleurs are not capable of working with Shimano shifters (as of 3.10.15).

Derailleur pulleys are pretty much a disposable component in cyclocross (especially if you do not service them continually). If you send us a broken derailleur we will send it back fixed but with your original pulleys. We will endeavor to service your pulleys as best we can.
We don’t care if you send us parts back with bullet holes in them, we will always repair to 100% operational condition no matter how they were destroyed.
Maybe! We are going to make it as easy as we can for you to get up and running and no matter how you broke them we are going to strive to offer the same great service and price to fix. We do however REALLY like to get and inspect broken parts as it is an important component in the system we have in place for making better parts now and in the future.
Other
Humans are indeed utilized for much of the more mundane work and interaction with the public (yawn…) but yes, we Goats are here keeping everything running smoothly and focusing on the super important stuff.
Seek help from the kindergarten teacher you had a crush on. We are all but useless in this circumstance.
We are 100% open to bribery. We will swap bike parts for bourbon most anytime we are asked to. We recommend starting with an offer of Woodford’s Reserve, but Bullet or Knob Creek will do if you are a starving student.
We are constantly R&D testing parts each season and sometimes you may catch a glimpse of these. Rest assured if these items prove worthy of producing for your bike they will eventually make it to the line up.
We do not (as of yet – and maybe never) produce any Gevenalle brand cycle kit. We do however sponsor a couple of teams that choose to place our logos on
